Alessio Bidoli (Milan, 1986) began his violin studies at the age of seven.
In 2006 he graduated with honours from the Conservatory "Giuseppe Verdi" of Milan under the guidance of Gigino Maestri. Subsequently he furthered his studies at the Haute Ecole de Musique of the Conservatory of Lausanne, and at the Salzburg Mozarteum with Pierre Amoyal, at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena with Salvatore Accardo, and at the Accademia Internazionale of Imola with Pavel Berman and Oleksandr Semchuk.
He first performed as soloist at Teatro Signorelli in Cortona at the age of seventeen. In 2005, he was among the prize-winners at Rassegna Nazionale d’Archi in Vittorio Veneto.
In 2007 he collaborated with the Lausanne Camerata directed by Pierre Amoyal in various European cities including Martigny at Foundation Pierre Gianadda, at Società dei Concerti of Milan and in Marseilles during the Festival de Musique Saint-Victor. As a soloist he has performed in Italy in prestigious Italian concert seasons, including: MITO Settembre Musica, Società del Quartetto and Società dei Concerti of Milan, Furcht-Bocconi University, Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala, Fondazione Musica Insieme of Bologna, Amici della Musica of Sondalo, Arvedi Auditorium of Cremona, Festival Paganiniano of Carro, Levanto Music Festival Amfiteatrof, Festival Internazionale della Cultura of Bergamo. Abroad he has also performed in several recitals in Russia, Thailand, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Luxembourg, Latvia.
He had a leading role with Vittorio Sgarbi at Teatro of Chiasso, Switzerland, in the theatre project Il Fin la Maraviglia, a journey about the Baroque age through images and sounds.
He has recorded a CD with the pianist Stefania Mormone for Amadeus Magazine (reissued in 2021 for Da Vinci Classics) and four more CD albums as a duo with Bruno Canino for Sony Classical: Verdi Fantasias (reissued by Concerto Classics) with a paraphrase by C. Sivori and A. Bazzini and Italian Soul-Anima Italiana, with mostly unreleased pieces by Malipiero, Casella and Petrassi; awarded at the Global Music Awards. For Warner Classics he has recorded a CD with music by Poulenc, Ravel, Stravinsky and Prokofiev and the monograph of the Sonatas for violin and piano by Saint-Saëns including the first recording ever of his juvenile E flat major sonata (R103). In 2020, for Decca a new monographic CD featuring Nino Rota’s chamber repertoire, again with Bruno Canino at the piano and Massimo Mercelli on the flute, which was also shortlisted among the best recordings worldwide at the Global Music Awards 2021. In 2022 for Sony Classical he recorded the monograph of the Portuguese composer Luis de Freitas Branco with Bruno Canino at the piano and Alain Meunier on the cello.
He has appeared as a guest artist in programmes he was dedicated by radio broadcasters such as Radio France, NDR Kultur, Radio Svizzera Italiana, RAI Radio 3, Radio Vaticana, Radio Classica, and Radio Popolare.
After teaching for some years at the Conservatory Francesco Cilea in Reggio Calabria, he is currently a violin teacher at the Conservatory Niccolò Piccinni in Bari. He regularly holds masterclasses for violin and chamber music in various Italian cities and is the art director of Musica in Corte Festival in Crema.
Alessio Bidoli plays one of the violins made by his grandfather, Dante Regazzoni, one of Lombardy’s most famous twentieth-century violin makers, whose laboratory has become an integral part of the Museo della Liuteria (MUSA) at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in the Auditorium Parco della Musica of Rome, and a violin by Stefano Scarampella dating to 1902.
